Terrell, Texas, is in the northern part of Kaufman County and lies approximately 30 miles to the east of Dallas. Interstate Highway 20 passes along its southern edge and Highway 80 runs through the middle of the city. Terrell is quickly becoming just another suburb of Dallas. Like many small cities in Texas it came into existence in 1873 when the Texas and Pacific Railway came through. The city was named after one of the early settlers in the area, Robert A. Terrell. Ten years after it was incorporated it was a bustling city of 3,000 served by three cotton gins. South Glenwood Boulevard continues as Texas 110 South/Texas Highway 155 North/Texas Highway 64 East/West Fifth Street until it intersects with Texas Highway 110 South/South Beckham Avenue.
