Kaufman, Texas, is the county seat of Kaufman County. In the 1860s Kaufman had only about 500 residents. In 1883 the Texas Central Railroad connected Kaufman with the city of Dallas and the city began to grow as a shipping point. By 1945 the city was home to a number of manufacturing businesses and had 2654 residents. By 1990 Kaufman had grown to 5238 residents. Although it is the county seat the city is not the largest city in the county. In 2000 the population was 6490 residents and the city was home to 416 businesses. From downtown Kaufman go east on West Mulberry Street toward South Madison Street. Bear right at the fork and continue to follow Texas State Highway 243 East for approximately 27 miles to where it intersects with Texas State Highway 64 East in Canton. Turn right on Highway 64 East and go about 33 miles until it intersects with Texas Loop 323 on the west side of Tyler. Turn right onto Loop 323 and after approximately ½ mile turn left onto Texas State Highway 31 East and proceed to the intersection with South Glenwood Boulevard. Turn right onto South Glenwood Boulevard which continues through Tyler as Texas Highway 110 South, Texas Highway 155 North, Texas Highway 64 East, and West Fifth Street. At the intersection with South Beckham Avenue turn right and proceed south onto Texas Highway 110 South/South Beckham Avenue until it intersects with Golden Road. Turn right onto Golden Road and Earl Drott Law, is located in the Bank of America building on the right.
