Lawsuit Over Handcuffing of Autistic Child Revived in Texas

A lawsuit filed after an autistic child from Southlake, Texas, was handcuffed at school has been revived. The parents of the 8-year-old child filed suit after the boy was handcuffed by a school resource officer. The lawsuit has been sent back to U.S. District Court, where it was previously dismissed. The parents say the civil rights of their son were violated during the incident at Carroll Elementary School in 2014.

Court Allows Liability Lawsuit Against Government Over Flawed Background Check

A lawsuit over a faulty background check that allowed a South Carolina man to buy the gun he used to kill nine people in a racist attack at a Charleston church was reinstated Friday by a federal appeals court. A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a ruling from a lower court judge who threw out the claims brought by relatives of people killed by Dylann Roof in the 2015 massacre, and by survivors.

Family of Boy Killed When Athens ISD Bus Was Hit by Train Files Suit
The family of Christopher Bonilla, the boy killed in January's bus vs. train crash, has filed a lawsuit against Athens ISD among others.Bonilla was killed on Jan. 25 when an Athens ISD school bus was hit by a train at the Cream Level Road Crossing. Bonilla was 13.

US Teens Exposed to Secondhand E-Cigarette Vapor

A survey that included tens of thousands of U.S. teens found that exposure to secondhand aerosols from e-cigarettes rose from one in four students in 2015 to one in three in 2018, researchers reported in JAMA Network Open. Other research has found that secondhand exposure to e-cigarette vapor can â??pose health risks to bystanders,â?? said the studyâ??s lead author Andy Tan. â??The vapor contains elevated levels of nicotine, particulate matter, glycerin propylene glycol, formaldehyde, polycyclic aromatic carbons and heavy metals,â?? Tan said. â??These substances are known to have health risks in vulnerable populations, including children and teens.â??

Toyota recalling 191,000 cars due to air bag issue
