Boy, 13, Wrongly Assaulted, Handcuffed By Police

spacer image

A professor at Northwestern has filed a lawsuit against the Evanston police department after his 13-year-old son was handcuffed by officers last month on suspected burglary charges. The suit claims officers profiled the boy - who was not the suspect - because he is African American; other than that, he looked nothing like the suspect. The suit accuses the officer of assault, unreasonable search and seizure and false imprisonment.  John P. Huston , Chicago Tribune  09/26/2012
