According to the Department of Public Safety, the 34-year-old man was struck from behind by a car driven by a 17-year-old girl and died. The lawsuit alleges negligence and seeks monetary relief for damages, expenses and court costs of over $1 million. Nicole Chavez, Austin American Statesman 09/22/2015 | Read Article: Austin American Statesman | Family Settles Lawsuit Over Death by Car Fleeing Authorities | | A settlement has been reached in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a 22-year-old who was killed by a vehicle fleeing police in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The young woman was struck by a car during an incident in 2014 in which a 19-year-old man was fleeing the authorities. The woman was hospitalized with spinal and lung injuries and died the next day. The lawsuit named as defendants Walgreens, University Shopping Center, the driver and his aunt, who loaned him the car. Due to a confidentiality agreement, the terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. Per the settlement, the family will be receiving $1.1 million and an apology from the university. The drum major died during a hazing incident that took place in a bus trip to a football game. The lawsuit filed by the young man's family alleged that the school was responsible for his death for allowing the culture of hazing at the university. The lawsuit was set to go to trial next month. Stephen Hudak, Orlando Sentinel 09/18/2015 | Read Article: Orlando Sentinel | Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Over Fatal Taser Explosion | | A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of a man whose car exploded when authorities shot a Taser at him has been dismissed. U.S. District Court Judge Larry A. Burns of San Diego issued a ruling stating that the Border Patrol agents involved in the incident acted appropriately in the tense situation. The incident took place in March 2012 when the 24-year-old man, who was driving from California to Texas, was spotted driving the wrong way down the highway.
