Retail giant Target is facing a lawsuit alleging a Hispanic worker was forced to wear a name tag with a "whitewashed" version of his name. The plaintiff alleges he suffered racial discrimination when he was forced by his employer to wear a name tag that said "Jonathan." The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in New York, alleges the plaintiff's supervisor told him the name Jose "does not 'fit' the predominantly white neighborhood demographics and his birth name would incite fear and uneasiness in customers."

New Lawsuit Filed Against Lyft Alleges Kidnapping and Gang-Rape
spacer image
Alison Turkos claims she was kidnapped at gunpoint and raped by her Lyft driver and is now suing for failing to keep its passengers safe. Turkos said her Lyft driver held her at gunpoint in New York City in 2017, drove her across state lines, and then, along with two other men, raped her. Turkos is among a reported five women who have filed lawsuits against Lyft, alleging they were sexually assaulted or raped by its drivers. The plaintiffs accuse Lyft of refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, failing to adequately screen potential drivers, and failing to address what they call "the sexual predator crisis" on the platform.
