Dismisses Epstein Case Following Defendant's Death |
|
A judge
has dismissed a sexual abuse lawsuit filed against Jeffrey Epstein, who died
in prison last month. U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra dismissed the
11-year-old litigation, stating the â??lengthy and contentious litigationâ?? had
become moot because Epstein is dead. Prior to Epstein's death, Marra was
considering providing relief to the women who alleged they were sexually
abused and trafficked by Epstein and his co-conspirators.

Lawsuit:
Target Forced Hispanic Worker to Wear 'Whitewashed' Name Tag |
|
Retail
giant Target is facing a lawsuit alleging a Hispanic worker was forced to wear
a name tag with a "whitewashed" version of his name. The plaintiff alleges he
suffered racial discrimination when he was forced by his employer to wear a
name tag that said "Jonathan." The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court
in New York, alleges the plaintiff's supervisor told him the name Jose "does
not 'fit' the predominantly white neighborhood demographics and his birth name
would incite fear and uneasiness in customers."

Lawsuit Filed Against Lyft Alleges Kidnapping and Gang-Rape |
|
Alison
Turkos claims she was kidnapped at gunpoint and raped by her Lyft driver and
is now suing for failing to keep its passengers safe. Turkos said her Lyft
driver held her at gunpoint in New York City in 2017, drove her across state
lines, and then, along with two other men, raped her. Turkos is among a
reported five women who have filed lawsuits against Lyft, alleging they were
sexually assaulted or raped by its drivers. The plaintiffs accuse Lyft of
refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, failing to adequately screen
potential drivers, and failing to address what they call "the sexual predator
crisis" on the platform.

Couple Plans to File Suit Against Airbnb |
|
During
the weekend of March 15th of South by Southwest, Cheryl rented out her West
Austin home. When she came back she said the place looked like an â??Animal
Houseâ??. Kitchens said a third-party damage assessment team that works with
Airbnb came to the house a month after the party. Enough time had passed where
some damage had already been repaired or replaced. Kitchens said by around
July 4th, Airbnb came back to Cheryl offering to pay $11,900 instead of the
$40,000 she had already spent.
