U.S. Plywood Producers Allege Brazilian Plywood is Dangerous

A group of U.S. plywood manufacturers has filed suit against a Brazilian competitor alleging that the company's plywood has been falsely certified as structurally sound. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Lauderdale and alleges two American inspection firms and an accreditation agency failed to perform their â??quality control functionsâ?? when the plywood was imported. Further, the lawsuit alleges the Brazilian plywood will not be able to withstand hurricanes or other severe weather events, making residents vulnerable "to significant risk of serious injury or death."

Cowboys Settle Cheerleader Pay Dispute

The Dallas Cowboys and Erica Wilkins, a former cheerleader, have settled a pay dispute over how much money women athletes on the cheerleading squad get paid. The claims, which began almost two years ago and centered around claims by Wilkins that she sometimes earned less than minimum wage as a cheerleader, were scheduled for arbitration in October.
