According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe 9 says she was assaulted in November 2014, and she alleges that Baylor's Office of Judicial Affairs "was not interested or concerned with the assault but did take interest in the fact that students were drinking at the time and place of the assault." The derailment took place in 2015 and resulted in the deaths of eight people and injuries to about 200 others. The settlement came in quicker than was expected and under the $295 million cap on payouts for Amtrak crashes. The settlement program for victims and families of victims is expected to be officially released on June 30, 2017. The woman was hit by a tractor-trailer after the rig's breaking system failed. The woman was killed and her infant son was injured in the crash.
