Exonerated Man Says Police Framed Him

A man wrongfully convicted of a rape and murder in 1992 has filed a lawsuit against Lake County, Ill., law enforcement officials after being exonerated. The man, who spent 20 years in prison, claims he was framed by police and coerced him into a false confession, feeding him details of the crimes. The man was exonerated by DNA evidence.

Kings Player Settles Suit with Exercise Ball Maker

The Sacramento Kings and player Francisco Garcia have reached a settlement in a lawsuit against the manufacturer of an exercise ball that injured Garcia. In the suit, Garcia says he was balancing on the ball and lifting weights when it "exploded," causing him to fall, suffering a fractured right arm. The terms of the settlement were undisclosed.

Teacher Rape Lawsuit Settled for $91,000

A school district in Billings, Mont., will pay $91,000 to settle a lawsuit with the family of a female student who killed herself in 2010 after being raped by a teacher. The teacher was charged with three felony accounts of sexual intercourse without consent. The suit accused the district of "improper hiring/supervision" of the teacher.

August Busch IV Settles Wrongful Death Suit

A judge has approved a $1.75 million wrongful death settlement between former beer baron August Busch IV and the family of his former girlfriend, who died from a drug overdose in 2010. The 27-year-old woman died from an overdose of the painkiller oxycodone while at Busch's mansion; police determined the overdose was accidental. Much of the settlement will be put into an annuity for the woman's son.
