A number
of hospitals across the country are filing lawsuits over costs of treating
people with opioid addictions. Hundreds of hospitals have filed a handful of
lawsuits in state courts against opioid makers and distributors. According to
the hospitals, they have incurred hefty amounts of money in charity care for
patients with opioid addictions. A report cited in the complaints states that
