Baltimore's
Lawsuit Against Major Oil Companies to Move Forward |
|
The
Supreme Court will allow a climate change lawsuit filed against major oil
companies to continue after rejecting a stay in the case. The lawsuit was
filed by the city of Baltimore against companies including BP, Chevron,
ExxonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell. As alleged in the complaint, the companies
are responsible for contributing to climate change. Further, the lawsuit
states that Baltimore is especially vulnerable to the resulting rise in sea
level.

Grow and Patients Suffer |

Street is aggressively remaking a health-care system once the domain of
independent-minded doctors and nurses. In 2018 alone, private equity firms
made $63.1 billion in medical deals, up about 50 percent from the year before.

industries, the health-related acquisitions are coming so fast that the
American Medical Association has scrutinized these deals because of concern
that patient care might get shortchanged.

Vaping
Devices Under Scrutiny |
|
Government
doctors and scientists are racing to uncover the cause of the outbreak, which
initially was blamed on tainted vape oil containing cannabis or nicotine
extracts. But researchers and regulators also are scrutinizing myriad vape
devices themselves, many of which are manufactured in China without U.S.
government or third-party safety checks.
