St. Jude Heart Devices Have Battery Defect

St. Jude Medical has issued a warning to patients that its implanted heart devices were at risk of premature battery depletion. Reports show that the defect has been linked to two patient deaths. St. Jude has informed patients with the heart devices that they should monitor the battery level in order to insure their safety. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned patients that they should seek immediate medical care if their devices are indicating a low battery. In addition, the FDA stated that St. Jude had initiated a recall of the defibrillators.

Samsung Kills off Galaxy Note 7 Over Safety Fears

Samsung Electronics is permanently stopping production of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones. Samsung released a statement Tuesday confirming it will no longer make the device after several reports of original and replacement models of the smartphone caught fire or exploded. "For the benefit of consumers' safety, we stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7 and have consequently decided to stop production," reads Samsung's statement.
