The lawsuit, which names the university, the NCAA, and the SEC as defendants, alleges that the plaintiff was permanently injured due to concussions he suffered on the football team. The complaint alleges that the defendants "failed to adopt or implement adequate concussion management safety protocols or return to play guidelines." Filed in U.S. District Court, the lawsuit contends that the plaintiff now suffers from seizures, migraines, extreme light sensitivity and "other debilitating issues." According to the complaint, Pepsi has misled buyers into believing the juices contain "high-value" ingredients such as kale when they often contain cheaper ingredients such as apple juice. The lawsuit filed in New York federal court in Brooklyn further alleges that the drinks are labeled as "no sugar added," when they actually contain roughly as much sugar as a can of Pepsi. Jonathan Stempel, Reuters 10/07/2016 | Read Article: Reuters | California Family Files Suit Over Football Player's Head Injury | | The family of a former California high school football player has filed a lawsuit against the Templeton Unified School District and Riddell All-American Sports Corp. According to the complaint, the defendants failed to properly care for the student-athlete when he suffered brain injuries during the sport. School officials have been accused in the lawsuit of failing to follow concussion protocol when the athlete was injured in September 2015. Following the injury, the teen was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery and was placed in a coma for a week. Dan Itel, San Luis Obispo Tribune 10/07/2016 | Read Article: San Luis Obispo Tribune | $50M Settlement in Oso Landslide Lawsuit Against Washington State | | A lawsuit filed over the 2014 Oso landslide in Washington has reached a $50 million settlement. The lawsuit was filed against the state by alleged victims of the landslide. During the landslide in March 2014, forty-three individuals were killed and many properties were destroyed. The $50 million settlement does not include any fees the King County Superior Court judge may impose against the defendants for illegally destroying emails pertaining to the case. Hal Bernton, The Seattle Times 10/09/2016 | Read Article: The Seattle Times | Yahoo CEO Accused of Discriminating Against Male Employees | | The CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer, is facing a lawsuit alleging that she discriminated against male employees of the company. The discrimination lawsuit was filed by Yahoo's former editorial director and the current editor-in-chief of the Silicon Valley Business Journal. He alleges in the complaint that Mayer used an employee evaluation system to "accommodate management's subjective biases and personal opinions, to the detriment of Yahoo's male employees." Further, the lawsuit alleges that the defendant "intentionally hired and promoted women because of their gender, while terminating, demoting or laying off male employees because of their gender."
