Mazda Recalls Thousands Of Sports Cars Over Gas Leak Risk
spacer image
Mazda North America is recalling nearly 70,000 of its RX-8 sports cars because they are prone to possible fuel leaks that carry the potential to spark fires, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday. The recalled vehicles, which include RX-8s from the 2004 through 2008 models, have fuel pump rings that might deteriorate from engine and exhaust pipe heat, meaning there is a risk of fuel leakage that in the presence of an ignition source can start a fiery blaze, the recall notice said.

Mercedes Exec Says Human Drivers Will Bully Robot Cars
spacer image
The coexistence of human drivers and robot cars, to be precise. Itâ??s not clear yet how well that will go. Dietmar Exler, chief executive of Mercedes-Benz USA said even if completely driverless cars were available now, theyâ??d be sharing the road with traditional cars for 20 to 25 years. Some people are afraid of robots taking over. Exler is worried that humans will â??bullyâ?? driverless cars. Human drivers already speed, drive erratically and cut in line. Driverless cars will be programmed to be polite and follow the law.

Secret Back Door in Some U.S. Phones Sent Data to China, Analysts Say
spacer image
Security contractors recently discovered preinstalled software in some Android phones that monitors where users go, whom they talk to and what they write in text messages. The American authorities say it is not clear whether this represents secretive data mining for advertising purposes or a Chinese government effort to collect intelligence. International customers and users of disposable or prepaid phones are the people most affected by the software. But the scope is unclear.
