Dismisses Most of Michigan's Lawsuit Over Flint Water Crisis |
|
A lawsuit
filed by the state of Michigan against two engineering firms that advised the
city of Flint on its water system has been mostly dismissed. A Genesee County
Circuit Court judge threw out the bulk of the state's $350 million lawsuit
against Veolia North America and Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam. Claims of
professional negligence, negligence, public nuisance, fraud and a request from
the state for exemplary damages were dismissed, while a claim of unjust
enrichment remains.

vaping-related lung illness tested recently had greasy vitamin E acetate from
THC in their lungs. Dr. Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told reporters last week states
are trying to decide if their oversight needs strengthening as the monthslong
national outbreak continues with the number of cases and deaths rising each
week.

Pennsylvania
Court Releases Nationwide Insurance from Home Shooting Lawsuit |
|
A
Pennsylvania Superior Court panel has ruled that Nationwide Insurance has no
obligation to cover a woman being sued over a murder that took place in her
home. The lawsuit was filed by the family of a 41-year-old man who was shot
during an argument at the defendant's home. She is accused of failing to
prevent the shooter, the victim's stepson, from accessing the gun used in the
shooting. The decision overturns a Philadelphia County judge's ruling and
frees Nationwide Insurance from the wrongful death lawsuit.
