The lawsuit filed against Ascension Parish public school district alleges that the boy was bullied and subsequently severely injured by several of his fellow band members at Donaldsonville High. The complaint alleges that the boy was chased and pushed down by the other students, who had thrown water bottles at the boy's head. The 14-year-old boy, who already had developmental delays and is a part of his school's special education program, had to undergo emergency brain surgery following the incident due to "blunt force trauma" to his head.
