Hyundai, Kia Admitt to Incorrect MPG Claims

Hyundai and Kia officials have admitted to overstating the fuel economy of many of their vehicles sold in recent years. The announcement comes on the heels of an EPA investigation prompted by consumer complaints that found discrepancies in the advertised mileage claims. A class-action lawsuit has also been filed in California over miles per gallon advertising for the Hyundai Elantra.

FFA Teachers Accused of Bullying in Lawsuit

Two Oklahoma parents have filed a lawsuit against Yukon Public Schools, accusing school officials of failing to protect their children from bullying and harassment. The lawsuit claimed FFA teachers and students "bullied and harassed" two female students because their parents discovered that teachers were charging parents more than they paid for livestock purchases. The suit says that on more than one occasion, one of the girls was told by a school counselor that she should "transfer schools."

Suit: Nestle Falsely Marketing 'Spring' Water

Nestle has been hit with another marketing lawsuit, this one claiming that the company's Ice Mountain Water, used in office dispensers, does not contain natural spring water as advertised. The suit claims Nestle markets the product as "true spring water containing naturally occurring minerals," but in fact is simple tap water. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.

Suit Details Racial Turf War in City Department

A city of Los Angeles employee has filed a lawsuit against the Community Development Department, citing an environment that has fostered a "racial turf war" between African Americans and Latinos. The suit claims that the plaintiff, who is Assyrian, was coerced by co-workers to choose a racial side; when he refused, he was allegedly harassed and verbally attacked. The man claims the atmosphere was so stressful that he was forced into therapy and medication.
