Florida Man Alleges Prior Sexual Abuse by Catholic Priest in Lawsuit | | A lawsuit has been filed in the state of Florida alleging that a priest who was accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy was transferred to another parish by the Archdiocese of Miami. The lawsuit was filed by a man who alleges he was sexually abused by the priest during the time that the priest served at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Pembroke Pines in 1989. The lawsuit accuses the archdiocese of "negligence for failing to protect the minor; intentional infliction of emotional distress for allowing the priest to have contact with children; failing to report alleged abuse to authorities and other complaints." The documents could be evidence in a lawsuit that a coalition of environmental groups, led by the New York City-based Waterkeeper Alliance, filed against Taylor Energy Co. The New Orleans-based company owned an oil platform that toppled during Hurricane Ivan in 2004. An Associated Press investigation recently revealed evidence that the leak at the site of the toppled platform is worse than Taylor or government regulators had publicly reported.
