Society of Jesus Settles Priest Abuse Lawsuit |
Officials with the Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus have agreed to pay $19.6 million to settle a lawsuit filed by six men who were allegedly abused by a former priest. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit said the priest molested them when they were children; the priest is currently serving a 25-year prison term after being convicted of sex with a minor. Texas Sues BP, Others over Gulf Oil Spill |
The state of Texas has joined in a lawsuit against BP Plc, Halliburton Co and other companies for their involvement in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010. The state accuses the defendants of "violating Texas' environmental regulations" and is seeking damages to make up for lost tourism revenue due to the spill.
