ADT Faces Lawsuit After Empolyee Accessed Over 200 Customers Systems in D/FW Area

Two federal class-action lawsuits have been filed on behalf of hundreds of ADT customers who recently learned their accounts with the home security company were compromised by a former employee. The lawsuits, filed Monday, come weeks after ADT alerted more than 200 of its customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that the former employee had unauthorized access to their security systems over the last several years, including the video streams of in-home cameras. The lawsuits were filed in Florida, where the ADT is headquartered. One lawsuit was filed on behalf of account holders, while the other covers people who live in a household that was compromised but who dont own the account, including roommates and minors.

TX is Testing Everyone in Nursing Homes, But Not State-Run Homes for People with Disabilities

Last week, Texas announced it would be testing every resident and staff member in nursing homes, which have emerged as hot spots for the new coronavirus. But state-run homes for people with disabilities and state-run psychiatric hospitals which collectively serve 4,703 vulnerable Texans and employ 18,873 full-time staff members will not receive that same level of state support to test all residents, patients and employees, according to a spokesperson for the agency that oversees the facilities.

In Texas: A Jury Trial by Zoom

Illinois Nursing Home Facing COVID-19 Death Lawsuit
 
An Illinois nursing home is facing a wrongful death lawsuit by the family of a resident who died of COVID-19. According to the complaint, filed in Kane County Circuit Court, Bria of Geneva failed to follow basic precautions against the spread of the disease, leaving residents vulnerable. The defendants are accused of being negligent in failing to provide adequate protective equipment and testing, failing to isolate sick residents, and allowing the disease to spread throughout the facility.
