According to the lawsuit, the girl, who suffers from Down Syndrome, was 8 years old when she was assaulted on at least 25 separate instances of abuse that were recorded by school bus surveillance. The lawsuit accuses the school district and the bus driver of negligence, failing to supervise, and failing to enforce policies to protect students on the bus. Four passengers involved in the accident filed suit in federal court in Philadelphia. The complaints allege that Amtrak failed to install an automatic-braking system on a dangerous curve where the train derailed. Two other lawsuits were filed on Monday over the accident - one in federal court in Manhattan and another in state court in Newark.
