ACLU Says Revised Title IX Rules Make It Hard to File Suit Over Sexual Assault

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed suit against Education Secretary Betsy DeVos over revised campus sexual assault rules. According to the lawsuit, the Title IX changes will make it "more difficult for victims of sexual harassment or sexual assault to continue their educations." The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland by the ACLU on behalf of four advocacy groups for people who have been sexually assaulted, including Know Your IX and Girls for Gender Equity.

Legal Firm to File Suit Against Two Florida Nursing Homes Over COVID-19 Deaths
Legal firm Morgan & Morgan plans to file suit against two Florida nursing homes over their alleged mishandling of coronavirus outbreaks. Families of individuals who have died as a result of outbreaks at Opis Coquina Center in Ormond Beach and Suwannee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Live Oak have retained the firm, which announced its intent to file suit on Thursday. According to Florida law, attorneys must file a letter of intent to sue 75 days before filing in court.

Business Seek Protection from Coronavirus Lawsuits, But Few Exist
Despite the fact that businesses across the country are urging U.S. lawmakers to protect them from lawsuits by workers and consumers exposed to COVID-19, few cases of the sort have been filed. As of this week, only 45 of 1,018 coronavirus-related lawsuits were personal injury or medical malpractice cases against a business. According to David Vladeck, who teaches civil procedure at the Georgetown University Law Center, "Those cases havenâ??t materialized and I doubt they will." Of the 45 current cases, 28 name Princess Cruise Lines as defendants.

Hillstone Restaurant Group Changes Mask Policy

After employee complaints, a lawsuit and mounting public pressure on social media, Hillstone Restaurant Group, which operates four popular Dallas-area high-end restaurants, has changed its policy on employees wearing face coverings at work. The company, which operates 45 units nationally across a multitude of brands, came under fire after prohibiting its employees from abiding by CDC recommendations for wearing masks when it opened its dining rooms.
