New York Gym Sued For Charging Members Despite Coronavirus Closures

A New York gym company has been hit with a lawsuit after continuing to charge monthly fees, despite the fact that it is currently closed. The lawsuit accuses the New York Sports Clubs of "defrauding" more than 600,000 members by not freezing payments and making it "virtually impossible" for them to cancel their memberships. Many members have repeatedly voiced complaints to the gym via social media. Named as defendants are New York Sports Club's parent company Town Sports International Holdings and Town Sports International (TSI).

Texas AG Accuses Houston Auction House of Price Gouging

The Texas Attorney General's Office has filed a lawsuit against a Houston auction house accused of price gouging. Beginning on March 17, Auctions Unlimited took bids on over 750,000 medical face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes on its website, causing the price of many items to surge. The owner estimated he netted as much as $40,000 during the recent auctions. He argued that the sales did not violate the law and pointed out that the lawsuit will keep the masks in a warehouse until it is settled.

Famed Restaurant Sues Hartford for Coverage After Forced Closure

Renowned Napa Valley restaurant The French Laundry on Wednesday became the latest business to seek a ruling that its business interruption policy covers coronavirus-related losses. According to the suit coverage under the Hartford policy applies â??to the actual loss of business income sustained and the actual, necessary and reasonable extra expenses incurred when access to the scheduled premises is specifically prohibited by order of civil authority as the direct result of a covered cause of loss to property in the immediate area of plaintiffsâ?? scheduled premises.â??

Court Rejects Effort to Block Harding Raid Victims From Questioning Officials

A Texas appeals court Thursday rejected an effort by city attorneys to block lawyers for relatives of two people killed in a deadly Houston police drug raid last year from deposing police supervisors and seeking documents to shed light on the incident.â??This is the key weâ??re hoping will unlock what happened and who was involved,â?? said an attorney representing the family of Rhogena Nicholas, one of two people killed in the botched raid on Jan. 28, 2019.

Sunbeam And Newell Brands Face Another Exploding Pressure Cooker Lawsuit

Sunbeam Products, Inc. and Newell Brands, Inc. are facing another product liability lawsuit after a man was injured by an exploding Crock Pot Electric Pressure Cooker. The lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court in and for Palm Beach County, Florida on behalf of the injured man. The plaintiff says he was using the cooking device according to its instructions when it suddenly and without warning exploded boiling hot contents on him, causing severe injuries. According to the lawsuit, the Crock Pot's numerous safety features failed to work properly, and the pressure cooker was defective.
