York Gym Sued For Charging Members Despite Coronavirus Closures |
|
A New
York gym company has been hit with a lawsuit after continuing to charge
monthly fees, despite the fact that it is currently closed. The lawsuit
accuses the New York Sports Clubs of "defrauding" more than 600,000 members by
not freezing payments and making it "virtually impossible" for them to cancel
their memberships. Many members have repeatedly voiced complaints to the gym
via social media. Named as defendants are New York Sports Club's parent
company Town Sports International Holdings and Town Sports International
(TSI).

AG Accuses Houston Auction House of Price Gouging |
|
The Texas
Attorney General's Office has filed a lawsuit against a Houston auction house
accused of price gouging. Beginning on March 17, Auctions Unlimited took bids
on over 750,000 medical face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes on
its website, causing the price of many items to surge. The owner estimated he
netted as much as $40,000 during the recent auctions. He argued that the sales
did not violate the law and pointed out that the lawsuit will keep the masks
in a warehouse until it is settled.

A Texas
appeals court Thursday rejected an effort by city attorneys to block lawyers
for relatives of two people killed in a deadly Houston police drug raid last
year from deposing police supervisors and seeking documents to shed light on
the incident.â??This is the key weâ??re hoping will unlock what happened and who
was involved,â?? said an attorney representing the family of Rhogena Nicholas,
