Settles Lawsuit Over 'Improper' Court Fees for $1.7M |
|
The city
of Ferguson, Missouri, will settle a lawsuit alleging it charged "improper"
court fees in an effort to generate revenue. City officials have agreed to pay
$1.7 million to settle the five-year-old lawsuit. It alleged the north St.
Louis County municipality charged illegal court fees â?? failure to appear,
warrant recall and letter fees â?? which had no beneficial value other than to
generate revenue for the city.

Resource Officer Intentionally Shot Gun Near Student, Alleges Family |
|
A lawsuit
filed by a New Mexico family alleges a school resource officer lied about his
gun accidentally discharging while a student was in his office. The lawsuit
alleges the officer intentionally fired his gun into the wall near a student
after lecturing the 13-year-old boy. The complaint filed by the boy's family
alleges the bullet passed inches from the studentâ??s head and his hearing is
now damaged.

Malfunctioning
EpiPens Could Harm Patients, Companies Say |

U.S.
regulators on Tuesday warned the public about malfunctions involving some
EpiPens, the emergency injectors for severe allergic reactions. The Food and
Drug Administration issued the warning after drugmakers Pfizer and Mylan told
medical providers that the problems could cause death or serious injuries. The
malfunctions can prevent or delay the devices from injecting the drug or cause
them to eject it prematurely.
