Appeals Court Denies Motion to Move Texas Personal Injury Case Against Estate

An appeals court has affirmed a trial court's order denying the motion to transfer a Texas personal injury claim to another venue. The case involves a personal injury complaint, filed in Rusk County, seeking an undetermined amount of personal injury damages against an estate. The defendant sought to move the case from the county where the estate was pending to the county where the accident occurred. However, after filing an appeal, the plaintiff's motion was denied.

Santa Fe Police Facing Lawsuit Over Elderly Woman's Freezing Death

The police department of Santa Fe, New Mexico is facing a lawsuit over the death of an elderly woman who froze to death. The lawsuit was filed by the woman's family and alleges police did not try hard enough to find the woman the night she died. The 92-year-old froze to death in a space between a pickup and a boarded-up ristra stand on the night of March 19, 2019. The wrongful death complaint was filed in state District Court.
