Most of Us | | More than half of Americans say they would pursue legal action if they were injured in a collision with a fully autonomous vehicle operating without a driver or steering wheel, according to a study by J.D. Power and law firm Miller Canfield. West Virginia City Joins Opioid Lawsuit | | The city council of Nitro, West Virginia, has voted to join a class action lawsuit against opioid distributors. The lawsuit will include Nitro and other cities and towns in the nearby area as plaintiffs and name as defendants three distributors of opioid drugs. "The city now has authority to enter into an agreement with an attorney to pursue a lawsuit on behalf of the city for all the damages that have been caused by the over-manufacturing of opioids and the other drugs that some of our citizens are unfortunately addicted to," stated an attorney for the city. Lawsuit Expected Over Fatal Florida Bridge Collapse | | A joint lawsuit is expected to be filed over a recent fatal bridge collapse in Miami. The two men, who had been in a romantic relationship for 20 years, were pulled from the debris from the bridge collapse at Florida International University. Their Chevy truck was driving underneath the bridge at the time of the collapse. An attorney for the families says the lawsuit will not be filed until both men are buried side by side on Wednesday. Iowa Boy Dies During Tonsillectomy, Family Files Suit | | The family of an Iowa boy who died during a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy is one of many affected by such deaths. The family filed suit after the 12-year-old suffered cardiac arrest during the procedure and died. According to their complaint, the center and anesthesiologist erred in giving the boy a drug that carries a warning about cardiac arrest risk in young boys. The defendants have responded by stating the boy died as a result of pre-existing conditions, acts of others, or conditions over which (defendants) had no control or responsibility.
