Class Action

Class Action Filed Over Burns From Conair Hair Dryers

Conair is facing a class action lawsuit alleging that its Conair Infiniti Pro Hair Styler, Series 259Y causes burns and the company was aware of the product's defects. The defendant was aware of defects in the product causing it to spark and/or catch fire, and that it failed to warn users of the defect or the potential for injury, alleges the lawsuit. Filed in Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois against Conair Corp., the complaint seeks damages in excess of $50,000 plus costs of the suit, as well as a jury trial.

Wrongful Death

New Mexico Gas Co. Hit with Lawsuit Over Woman's Death in Explosion

A lawsuit was filed last week against the New Mexico Gas Co. over the death of a woman in a natural gas explosion. The complaint states that natural gas had been seeping out of a faulty line and into the ground beneath her home near Roswell, New Mexico. The woman died after her "home erupted in an explosion while she was inside." The wrongful death suit was filed last week in District Court in Santa Fe.
