Judge Says Yahoo Will Face Lawsuit Over Data Breach | | A federal judge says that victims of a data breach can file suit against Yahoo. The lawsuit filed in the United States says that the personal information of all 3 billion users was compromised in a series of data breaches. On Friday, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California denied Verizon Communications Inc's bid to dismiss the lawsuit. The company, which bought Yahoo's Internet business, sought to be released from some of the lawsuit's claims, including for negligence and breach of contract. Texas County Files Suit Against Chemical Plant Over Hurricane Harvey Explosion | | A million-dollar lawsuit has been filed against the Arkema chemical plant in Crosby, Texas. The plant was the site of chemical explosions and fires after the plant was flooded by Hurricane Harvey in August. "We found out there was a cloud of toxic smoke that went into the county, Liberty County. There are still ongoing issues people are having there from contamination from this event," stated an attorney for Liberty County, the plaintiff in the lawsuit. Executives with Arkema continue to state that the flooding that inundated the plant following the hurricane could not have been predicted.
