Televangelist Peddling Coronavirus 'Cure' Hit with Lawsuit by Missouri AG

A lawsuit has been filed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt against televangelist Jim Bakker for selling a product on his television show which he claimed could cure the coronavirus. Named as defendants in the lawsuit are Bakker and his Morningside Church Productions. According to the lawsuit, Bakker falsely claimed the â??Silver Solutionâ?? could cure the virus in a Feb. 12 episode of â??The Jim Bakker Show.â?? The complaint requests a restraining order and permanent injunction against Bakker selling the solution as a coronavirus treatment.

UNM Agrees to Settle Part of Pediatric Cancer Class-Action Suit for $38M

The University of New Mexico will settle part of a class-action lawsuit brought by the families of pediatric cancer patients. The complaint alleged patients received substandard care for the most common type of childhood cancer at the universityâ??s medical center. The University of New Mexico Board of Regents has agreed to pay $38 million, bringing an end to part of the class-action suit. The â??unopposed motion for preliminary approval of class action settlementâ?? was filed last week in state District Court.
