Clinic Illegally Gave Out Man's Sperm, Couple Says

spacer image

A Houston man and his former girlfriend have filed a lawsuit against a local sperm clinic, claiming the clinic gave out the man's sperm to another ex-girlfriend without consent. In 2002, the couple froze some of the man's sperm to allow for future fertilization options. Under their contract with the clinic, if the couple separated, the sperm was to be given to the woman to use at her discretion. The suit, however, claims the clinic gave the sperm out to another woman, who the man dated and broke up with just a few years ago. That woman became pregnant and had a child in 2010; legal experts say the man could be ordered to pay child support despite the fact that his sperm was used without his permission.
