Zurich Report: Houston Must Take Action |

According to a new report (Houston and Hurricane Harvey: A Call to Action) issued Thursday by Zurich Insurance Group and the nonprofits ISET International and the American Red Cross, Houston's geography, regulatory environment, rapid growth and development, and overlapping government jurisdictions each played a role in the disaster. Southwest Passengers Who Survived Plane Engine Blowout File Suit |

A lawsuit has been filed by a group of passengers aboard the Southwest Airlines flight that made an emergency landing in Philadelphia after an engine blowout. As stated in the complaint, Southwest â??negligentlyâ?? failed to inspect, test, maintain and repair the aircraft and engine before the fatal flight. The plaintiffs filed suit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Also included as a plaintiff in the lawsuit it the husband of a passenger who died during the flight. Lawsuit: Immigrant Children Forcibly Injected with Drugs at Texas Shelter |

Children held at the Shiloh Treatment Center, a government contractor south of Houston that houses immigrant minors, described being held down and injected, according to the federal court filings. The lawsuit alleges that children were told they would not be released or see their parents unless they took medication and that they only were receiving vitamins. Parents and the children themselves told attorneys the drugs rendered them unable to walk, afraid of people and wanting to sleep constantly, according to affidavits filed April 23 in U.S. District Court in California.
