Uber, Lyft Face Lawsuits After Recent Shutdown in Austin |
Two federal lawsuits have been filed against Uber and Lyft over a recent Austin shutdown which former drivers allege violated labor laws. The lawsuits were filed in federal court near both companies' headquarters in San Francisco on Thursday. Among the recent claims is the fact that the ride-sharing companies failed to notify its drivers of the impending shutdown. Plaintiffs also allege, like many similar lawsuits against Uber and Lyft, that the companies have mislabeled their drivers as independent contractors, rather than employees.
