A new wrongful death lawsuit alleges an Ohio woman died because she ate salad processed at a Dole plant linked to a listeria outbreak. The Springfield News-Sun reports the lawsuit says a 79-year-old Franklin County woman died in February after eating salad from Dole's Springfield plant. VW Can't Yet Halt Consumer Suit Over Emissions Scandal |
A Virginia federal judge on Tuesday refused to halt a consumer action against Volkswagen over its "clean diesel" emissions scandal and sent the case back to state court over the automaker's objections, finding that the local court still has authority in the case while consolidation is being weighed. The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on Wednesday denied a request to reconsider arguments aimed at altering the settlement between the N.F.L. and thousands of former players who said the league hid from them the dangers of concussions. In April, a three-judge panel in the Third Circuit unanimously affirmed the approval of the settlement, which provides up to $5 million to individual players with severe neurological diseases. Ex-Student Files Suit Over Sexual Assault Against College |
A former student of Sienna College in New York has filed a lawsuit alleging that the school is to blame for her sexual assault. The young woman filed her lawsuit on May 25 in state Supreme Court in Albany. The complaint alleges that the assault in the plaintiff's dorm room would not have taken place had the school patrolled the residence hall. Fla. Surgeon Faces Lawsuits by 160 Women Over Breast Surgeries |
Over 160 women have filed suit against a Florida surgeon alleging that he disfigured them during breast surgeries. Three women sued the surgeon and his son in October alleging that their breast surgeries were botched, causing them disfigurement and continued pain. Six months after the initial lawsuits were filed, about 160 women have filed similar complaints against the surgeon. Automakers Still Installing Defective Takata Airbags in Cars: Report |
Even as federal safety regulators expand the ongoing recall of defective Takata airbags, four major automakers continue to install some of the defective devices on their newest vehicles, according to a new Senate report. A number of manufacturers also are using defective Takata inflators as replacements for older airbags in about 2.1 million recalled vehicles. Ford Recalls 1.9M Vehicles With Takata Air Bags |
Ford said Wednesday it is recalling nearly 1.9 million vehicles with defective air bags on the passenger side, the latest recall over possibly defective air bags manufactured by Takata. Ford Motor Co. said in Wednesday's statement that the vehicles affected by the safety recall are 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. Report: 11 Deaths at Huntington Hospital Among Patients Infected by Dirty Scopes |
Pasadena health officials said Wednesday that 16 patients were infected by dangerous bacteria from medical scopes at Huntington Hospital from January 2013 to August 2015, including 11 who have now died. The hospital had previously said just three patients were infected in the outbreak that officials said was limited to the middle of 2015. The patient infections were detailed in the Pasadena Public Health Department's investigation into the outbreak.
