Former Penn State Player's Amended Complaint Includes Title IX Investigation

A former Penn State football player has amended his sexual harassment lawsuit against the school to include the results of a Title IX investigation. The athlete filed suit against the university, head football coach James Franklin, and another former player alleging he was sexually harassed and hazed. The Title IX investigation found that the university failed to respond promptly and equitably to sexual harassment complaints, including those initially reported to the athletic department while the plaintiff was a student-athlete.

Baylor Asks Judge to Overturn Order
spacer
Attorneys for Baylor University have asked a federal judge to overturn a magistrates order requiring Baylor to provide documents prepared by Pepper Hamilton to attorneys for 15 women suing the school for failure to enforce Title IX protections. University attorneys asked U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman to reverse a sharply worded order earlier this month by Magistrate Judge Andrew W. Austin. Austin gave Baylor until July 15 to turn over documents from the law firm, which determined in 2016 that Baylor fundamentally failed to enforce federally mandated protection for sexual assault victims.

Insurers Scrutinizing Legionnaires' Disease Safeguards
spacer
US commercial insurers are scrutinizing building managers efforts to avoid outbreaks of Legionnaires disease as they re-open movie theaters, gyms, schools and offices that had been closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic, industry sources told Reuters. Insurers May Only Pay For Coronavirus Tests When They're 'Medically Necessary'

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act passed by Congress requires health plans to fully pay for testing deemed "medically necessary."
