Illinois Nursing Home Hit with Lawsuit Over Coronavirus Death
 
An Illinois nursing home has been hit with a lawsuit over the coronavirus death of an 84-year-old man. His daughter filed suit against Symphony of Joliet nursing home alleging the death was the result of gross negligence. According to the lawsuit, his death was the by product of years of the nursing home mismanagement, misallocation of resources and understaffing, and repeated violations and cited deficiencies of infection control and prevention requirement. The complaint was filed Thursday evening at the Will County Courthouse.

Reseda Rehab Center Failed Woman Who Died of COVID-19, Alleges Daughter
 
Parkwest Rehabilitation Center in Reseda, California, is facing a lawsuit over the death of a resident who contracted COVID-19 at the facility. The woman had lived at the facility since suffering a stroke in 2012. The lawsuit filed by the woman's daughter alleges "Parkwest's leadership learned that multiple members of its staff tested or were suspected of having COVID-19 yet did not inform residents or their families and continued to allow staff to work." Further, Parkwest did not provide protective equipment for staff "through as late as May."

New Jersey Nursing Home Where 78 Died of Coronavirus Facing Two Lawsuits
 
A nursing home in Sussex County, New Jersey, where 78 people have died is facing a second lawsuit. The families of two residents who died of COVID-19 have accused Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center of gross negligence, negligence, wrongful death, and medical malpractice. In a brief filed in U.S. District Court in Newark last week, the nursing home claimed both patients conditions led to their deaths, not any failure by the facility to properly handle the pandemic.
