Baylor Settles Lawsuit with Woman Who Alleged Sexual Assault |
Baylor University has agreed to settle a federal lawsuit with a former student who accused the nation's largest Baptist school of fostering a "hunting ground for sexual predators" and mishandling her alleged attack in 2015. A settlement notice was filed in federal court in Waco, Texas on Thursday. No details were released, but the agreement marks Baylor's first settlement to resolve a cascade of lawsuits over the past 18 months by women who said they were attacked and had their cases ignored or bungled by the university for years.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was drugged, abducted and raped at an off-campus party on Feb. 28, 2015. Hospice Lawsuit Settled in Atlanta for $2.4 Million |
A $2.4 million settlement has been reached in a Georgia hospice lawsuit filed by a number of whistleblowers. According to the lawsuit, Compassionate Care of Atlanta paid kickbacks to five physicians to get them to refer patients and certify them as eligible for hospice services. After referring patients to hospice care, the defendants billed Medicare and Medicaid for those patients, stated the lawsuit. The settlement was announced by the Justice Department on Thursday. "Kickbacks should never play a role in medical decision-making," said U.S. Attorney John Horn during the settlement announcement.
