MLB Seeks Dismissal of Lawsuit Over Ticket Refunds for Cancelled Games

Major League Baseball is requesting the dismissal of a lawsuit over ticket refunds. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angele, alleges fans were denied refunds to games that were called off because of the coronavirus. Fans allege they were "stuck with expensive and unusable tickets for unplayable games in the midst of this economic crisis." MLB has asked the court to dismiss the claims of eight remaining plaintiffs after it offered fans a choice of refunds or credits.

Michigan Supreme Court Will Allow Flint Water Crisis Lawsuit Against Officials

The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that state government departments, former Gov. Rick Snyder, and former emergency managers in the city of Flint must face a lawsuit over their handling of the water crisis. The complaint alleges the defendants violated Flint residents=E2=80=99 "bodily integrity" by exposing them to lead-contaminated water and hiding what they knew about the issue. On Wednesday, the court ruled that residents and property owners "sufficiently alleged a claim," denying the defendants' motion for dismissal.

Court Records Show 115 Visitors Reported Injuries on Universal Orlando Slide That Paralyzed Man

Court records show that at least 115 visitors to Universal Orlando=E2=80=99s Volcano Bay reported injuries on the same slide that paralyzed a tourist. In addition to a number of park patrons, two ride safety testers were also injured on the slide. The man who was paralyzed claims his "neck snapped back violently when he went through a wave of water at the end of the ride." He has filed a lawsuit in Orange Circuit Court against Universal and Canadian ride manufacturer ProSlide Technology. The complaint seeks punitive and other damages of more than $15,000.

Bayer Argues Against Weed-Killer Verdict, Says Investigator Finds U.S. Farmer Still in Business

Lawsuit: JPMorgan Chase Gave PPP Loans to Large Banking Clients, Not Small Businesses

A lawsuit accuses JPMorgan Chase of discriminating against small businesses in preference of large commercial banking clients seeking emergency loans. The proposed class action lawsuit was filed on Wednesday and alleges the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program awarded participating banks with an origination fee based on a percentage of the value of each loan they processed. As a result, the majority of smaller businesses who applied for the loan were denied, alleges the lawsuit.

Investigation: Errors, Discrepancies Between State and Federal COVID-19 Data for Texas Nursing Homes

KXAN Investigators found hundreds of discrepancies between state data reported by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and federal data reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. For instance, state data has 2,063 more nursing home residents testing positive than federal data from the same week. The state also reported 219 more deaths in these facilities than the federal report.
