Gallons of Seeping Drilling Fluid Collected at Kinder Morgan Pipeline Site

A cleanup crew has collected almost 100 gallons of drilling fluid that bubbled up at a construction site for a controversial pipeline that Houston-based Kinder Morgan is building through the Texas Hill Country, the company says. The drilling fluid was discovered Saturday afterno0n near state Highway 16 about 6 miles southwest of Fredericksburg. Crews there were drilling to build a section of the Permian Highway Pipeline, a $2 billion project to move natural gas from West Texas to the Katy hub near Houston.

Michigan Couple Files $1.25M Lawsuit Over Dam Flooding

A couple from Sanford, Michigan, has filed suit against the federal government seeking damages for their home destroyed by flooding. The plaintiffs' home was destroyed when a nearby dam broke, causing flooding throughout the area. The couple is now seeking $1.25 million in damages against the federal body that previously oversaw the operation of the Edenville Dam. The lawsuit cites $1 million in property damage and $250,000 in personal injuries.

Texas Releases COVID-19 Nursing Home Data

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has publicly released that data on nursing homes, assisted living facilities and state supported living centers.=20 HHSC initially said the information was protected by health privacy laws, but a ruling by the Attorney General=E2=80=99s Office on July 6 said the agency should disclose it.

Data Shows Houston With Highest Rate of Nursing Home Infections, Deaths in Texas

Texas' Count of Coronavirus Deaths Increases 12% After Officials Change the Method Used to Count COVID-19 Fatalities

After months of undercounting coronavirus deaths, Texas=E2=80=99 formal tally of COVID-19 fatalities grew by more than 600 on Monday after state health officials changed their method of reporting. The revised count indicates that more than 12% of the state=E2=80=99s death tally was unreported by state health officials before Monday.The Texas Department of State Health Services is now counting deaths marked on death certificates as caused by COVID-19. Previously, the state relied on local and regional public health departments to verify and report deaths.
