Lawsuit Against Erie Insurance Over Pandemic Coverage Will Move Forward

A lawsuit against Pittsburgh-based Erie Insurance alleging it refused claims filed by business owners will move forward, according to a judge. As alleged in the lawsuit, "hundreds if not thousands" of business owners were wrongfully denied coverage due to pandemic restrictions, despite paying premiums for years. The lawsuit's claims will be heard in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.

Texas DPS, State Trooper Accused in Shooting Death of Teen

The Texas Department of Public Safety and a state trooper have been hit with a lawsuit over the shooting death of a teenager last year. The lawsuit was filed in June by the parents of the 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot by State Trooper Donald Hinote on July 10, 2019, at a home in Corpus Christi. Video surveillance shows that the teen was shot by Hinote as his car was parked outside the trooper's house. The lawsuit alleges excessive force, gross negligence, and wrongful death.
