Years Ago TODAY! #TTLA70th |
On July
1, 1949, a typically hot early summer day, a group of more than 30 of the best
and most visionary Texas trial lawyers came together for a meeting in the
historic Texas Hotel in Downtown Fort Worth. At that historic meeting, they
laid the groundwork for an organization of trial lawyers that would forever
change the landscape for Texas trial lawyers and their clients. By the time
the sun set that day, these pioneers had formed the first ever association of
Texas plaintiff attorneys. Click on the headline to learn more.

|
The
father of a college student who suffered a brain injury in a fall at a
fraternity party has filed suit against the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity,
its West Virginia University chapter, SAE Gamma, and several of its members.
The 22-year-old student fell down a flight of stairs at a party on November
10, 2018 and suffered a brain injury causing permanent damage. According to
the complaint, fraternity members failed to call 911 until two hours after the

Federal
Judge Rules Against Formosa Plastics in Pollution Case |
|
U.S.
District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt ruled that Formosa Plastics was in "enormous"
violation of its state-issued permits and the federal Clean Water Act â?? and
that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality had been either unwilling
or unable to bring the company into compliance. "The evidence demonstrates
that Formosa has been in violation of its Permit concerning the discharge of
floating solids ... since January 31, 2016 and that the violations are
enormous," Hoyt wrote in his ruling, issued Thursday.
