But even as bishops have dedicated these lists to abuse victims and depicted the disclosures as a public acknowledgement of victimsâ?? suffering, it has become clear that numerous alleged abusers have been omitted and that there is no standard for determining who each diocese considers credibly accused.

Austin Motel Failed to Help Woman Assaulted by Three Men, Alleges Lawsuit

An Austin motel is facing a lawsuit filed by a woman who says staff failed to help her after she was sexually assaulted. The lawsuit alleges a front desk clerk at Motel 6 failed to respond or call police when the plaintiff told him she was assaulted by three men in the motel. The complaint also alleges motel employees deleted or lost video footage of her outside the rooms.

Lawsuit: DISD Failures Allowed Man to Pose as Teen

The mother of a 14-year-old Hillcrest High School student who was groped by a 25-year-old man who posed as a teenager so he could enroll in high school is suing him, the school district and several school officials in federal court. The lawsuit, filed last month, accuses the school officials of being â??so driven to have an unstoppable teamâ?? that they â??intentionally ignored all the red flagsâ?? that would have tipped them off to Gilstrap-Portleyâ??s real identity.

Highway Workers Scrambled to Put up Sign After Fatal Crash

A lawsuit alleges highway construction workers in Texas scrambled to put up required signage after a 2017 crash that killed a family. According to the lawsuit, police watched as the workers put up a sign warning drivers about a planned closing. The lawsuit was filed by the wife of the man who died, along with their two children. She accuses Webber, a major road builder based in The Woodlands, of negligence in the crash.
