Big-Rigs Headed to TX & NM |
|
Waymo is
about to start mapping in Texas and New Mexico as a prelude to testing its
self-driving big-rig trucks. The mapping minivans, to be followed by the large
trucks, will run primarily along Interstates 10, 20 and 45 and through
metropolitan areas like El Paso, Dallas and Houston, the company said.

Amtrak
Faces Lawsuit Over Washington Train Derailment |
|
Amtrak is
facing a lawsuit over a train derailment that took place in Washington in Dec.
2017. The lawsuit was filed by the engineer of the train at the time of the
accident who says Amtrak failed to properly train him and install safety
measures before the crash. He contends he "suffered physical and emotional
injuries as a result of the derailment." The accident resulted in the deaths
of three passengers and injuries to several others according to the lawsuit
filed Tuesday in Pierce County Superior Court.

Michigan
Sues 3M, Dupont and Others Over Contaminated Water Supply |
|
The state
of Michigan is filing suit against DuPont, 3M and 15 other defendants for the
alleged contamination of water supplies. According to state officials, the
companies have released PFAS chemicals into the water supply used in
applications including firefighting retardant and Teflon nonstick cookware.
The chemicals have caused a widespread health hazard, as they are known to
last in the human body for decades. The state filed suit in Washtenaw County
Circuit Court.

Dallas
School District To Be Sued Over Fatal Shooting at Basketball Game |
|
A Dallas
mother plans to file suit against Dallas ISD over the shooting death of her
son at a high school basketball game. The lawsuit alleges the school district
failed to protect the teen and his fellow students from the violence. The
plaintiff's son died a week after he was shot on Jan. 11 by a 5-year-old at
Dallas ISD's Ellis Davis Fieldhouse. The shooter was arrested after turning
himself in to police the following day.
