Two
Years After Five Killed OK Well Explosion, Not Much Has Changed |
|
Two years
ago, an oil well near a small Oklahoma town exploded into a fireball that
swept through a drilling rig, killing five in an accident deemed a needless
catastrophe by federal investigators and casting a short-lived spotlight on a
lack of regulation and oversight across the oil and gas industry. What has
happened since then? Not much.

Federal
Appeals Court Rejects Youth Climate Change Lawsuit |
|
A federal
appeals court has rejected a climate change lawsuit against the government
filed on behalf of a group of young people. The complaint sought to force the
government to draw up a plan to phase out fossil fuel emissions. In a split
decision Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco rejected the
lawsuit. According to the panel, while the evidence in the case was
compelling, it is beyond its power to order a remedial plan.

Judge
to Decide Case of Cincinnati Teen Who Died Trapped by Car Seat |
|
A judge
is set to decide whether a lawsuit against the city of Cincinnati over the
death of a teen who was trapped in a car can proceed. Hamilton County Common
Pleas Court Judge Robert Ruehlman is expected to issue a ruling on Wednesday.
The lawsuit was filed against the city, its former city manager, two police
officers, and two 911 call takers by the parents of the 16-year-old boy who
died after becoming trapped under a folding seat in his car. The teen called
911 twice before dying of asphyxiation, according to the lawsuit.
