Suit: Budweiser Beer is Watered Down

A lawsuit has been filed in Philadelphia against Anheuser-Busch by consumers in three states over claims that the company overstates the alcohol content in Budweiser beer. The suit claims the company "routinely adds water to its finished product" to decrease the alcohol content. Similar suits have been filed in New Jersey and San Francisco.

Supreme Court Dismisses Govt. Surveillance Lawsuit

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that no one can sue the federal government over secret surveillance because "no one can prove his or her calls were intercepted." In a 5-4 decision, the high court dismissed challenges against the government over the constitutionality of monitoring calls and e-mails. The conservative majority wrote that "matters of national security and the fight against terrorism are properly decided by the president and Congress, not through lawsuits."

Suit Filed over Dangling Power Lines

A lawsuit has been filed by the family of two Houston children who were severely burned by a dangling power wire. The lawsuit claims the children's parents notified the power company weeks before the incident about the potentially dangerous wires, but nothing was done to fix them. One of the children caught on fire and required multiple skin grafts; both were hospitalized with their injuries.

Suit: Hospital Reused Dirty Insulin Pens

Three New York residents have filed a lawsuit against Olean General Hospital in upstate New York after they contracted hepatitis from insulin needles. The lawsuit claims the hospital uses the same insulin pens on more than one patient, which puts others at risk for contracting diseases. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.
