The Postal Service Fired Thousands of Workers for Getting Injured

Judge Delays Arkema Criminal Trial

Harris County prosecutors had a duty to find out more when a former key witness appeared to change his testimony in the criminal case against Arkema, the owner of a plant that released hazardous chemicals during Hurricane Harvey, a state district judge said Monday. Judge Belinda Hill also sanctioned prosecutors for withholding or delaying the disclosure of evidence that was beneficial to the defense. Hillâ??s ruling came during a roughly two-hour-long misconduct hearing that was to have been followed by opening statements.

Kobe Bryant's Wife Files Suit Against Helicopter Operator

The wife of the late basketball player Kobe Bryant and his daughter have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the operator of the helicopter they died on. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and names as defendants Island Express Helicopters, its holding company, and the heirs of its pilot, Ara Zobayan, who was one of nine who died in the Jan. 26 crash. The lawsuit seeks unspecified general and punitive damages for 28 counts of negligence and breach of duty.

Makers of Drug Vivitrol Sued Over Opioid Overdose Death

The manufacturer of the drug Vivitrol is facing a lawsuit lawsuit filed by the family of a California man who died of a drug overdose. The 26-year-old died after taking Vivitrol to combat an opioid addiction. According to the lawsuit, Alkermes failed to warn of the high risk of overdose when patients stop taking Vivitrol and then relapse into opioid use. The lawsuit was filed in Superior Court in Los Angeles on Jan. 31.
