In Texas, where workersâ?? compensation is optional and 28 percent of employers don't even cover their workers, injured employees who file claims through the system enter an endless maze of denials and appeals that blocks their treatment, recovery and return to work. For many, the process is so exhausting that they rue ever filing a workersâ?? compensation claim.

Instant Pot Makers Sued Over Woman's Burn Injuries
Instant Brands, Inc., the maker of the Instant Pot pressure cooker is accused in a lawsuit of misrepresenting product safety. The plaintiff, a woman from California, sustained severe thermal burns to her body when her pressure cooker exploded. According to the complaint, the defendants claim the devices are marketed as having "safety mechanisms" which are supposed to prevent them from building pressure if the lid is not closed properly. The complaint was filed by Johnson // Becker, PLLC, a law firm representing over 175 clients who have been severely burned by exploding pressure cookers designed and sold by numerous manufacturers.

Harvey: Two Women Sued the Army Corps Over Flooding, Only One Won

Like thousands of others, two women sued the Corps hoping to recoup damages under a federal law that says the government must compensate people if it temporarily uses their land to store water. The court sorted the mountain of Fifth Amendment â??takingsâ?? lawsuits regarding Addicks and Barker reservoir flooding into two categories. Now, depending on which side of the massive earthen dams a property is, the prospects for recovering damages differ greatly.

Conair Hair Dryers Can Catch Fire and Burn Uses, Says Class Action Suit

A recently-filed class action lawsuit alleges that Conair hair dryers can cause burns to users. The lawsuit was filed in Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois against Conair Corp. and alleges the Conair Infiniti Pro Hair Styler, Series 259Y, has the potential to catch fire and burn users. According to the complaint, the defendants were aware of defects in the product causing it to spark and/or catch fire but failed to issue a warning to consumers.
