Glatter: Former Aetna Medical Director Admits To Never Reviewing Medical Records Before Denying Care |
In an exclusive reported by CNN, it was revealed that former Aetna Medical Director, Dr. Jay Ken Iinuma, admitted under oath that “he never looked at patients’ records when deciding whether to approve or deny care.” This admission was made during a deposition in a lawsuit brought against Aetna by Gillen Washington, a 23 year old with common variable immune deficiency who was denied coverage for an infusion of intravenous immunoglobulin four years ago. California’s insurance commissioner, Dave Jones, is now looking into Aetna’s relevant protocols.

Texas School District Immune from Bus Death Lawsuit |
The school district in Beaumont, Texas, will be immune to a lawsuit over the death of a young child on a bus. The Ninth Court of Appeals recently ruled that Beaumont ISD would not have to face the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a 3-year-old who died. The lawsuit states that the child lost consciousness and died while riding a bus to an early childhood program at Regina Howell Elementary on Dec. 8, 2014. District Court Judge Donald Floyd dismissed the lawsuit, citing a state law that protects school districts and other governmental entities from most lawsuits.
