Parents of Lead-Poisoned Flint Toddler File Suit
spacer image
The family of a 2-year-old girl who has suffered lead poisoning as a result of the water crisis in Flint, Michigan has filed a lawsuit. The lawsuit contends that the girl was poisoned by the city's water supply because officials failed to warn residents. When the girl's blood was tested, it was nearly three times the level of being declared toxic. Lead poisoning in children less than six years old can damage organs, slow development and lead to learning and behavioral problems. The lawsuit names as defendants several State of Michigan and Flint officials, including Gov. Rick Snyder, former Flint emergency manager Darnell Earley and former Flint Mayor Dayne Walling.

Electronic gear shifters on some newer Fiat Chrysler SUVs and cars are so confusing that drivers have exited the vehicles with the engines running and while they are still in gear, causing crashes and serious injuries, U.S. safety investigators have determined. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in documents posted during the weekend, has doubled the number of vehicles involved in an investigation of the problem, but it stopped short of seeking a recall. The agency found more than 100 crashes and over a dozen injuries, mostly in Jeep Grand Cherokees.
