Youngsto= wn and northeastern Ohio occasionally shiver to the beat of the oil and gas industry. From earthquakes. What Ohio is experiencing may hold some lessons for Texas, because a growing number of studies and state regulators link the tremors to oil and gas waste disposal wells and hydraulic fracturing. Dr. Ray Beiersdorfer, a geologist at Youngstown State University, traces 1,055 earthquakes most of them less than magnitude 2 to oil and gas activity in northeastern Ohio.

Anthem Hack: Unencrypted Health Insurance Data Exposed

Health insurance giant Anthem Inc. said late Wednesday that hackers had breached its computer system and the personal information of tens of millions of customers and employees was possibly at risk. The attack on the health insurer could be one of the largest data breaches in the healthcare industry, experts said. Anthem said hackers infiltrated a database containing records on as many as 80 million people.

Man Jailed After Attempting to File TSA Complaint

A Pennsylvania man has filed a lawsuit alleging that he was placed in jail for 23 hours after attempting to file a complaint about how long a search took at Philadelphia International Airport. According to the lawsuit, TSA officials took half an hour searching through the plaintiff's bag and would not tell him what they were looking for. The incident took place two years ago while the plaintiff was on his way to Miami for a marathon. After he requested a complaint form to report the ordeal, the plaintiff was placed in jail, where he remained for 23 hours.

Judge Refuses to Delay Tracy Morgan's Lawsuit

A federal judge has refused to delay a civil lawsuit against a Walmart truck driver who caused an accident last year which injured comedian Tracy Morgan and two other passengers, while killing one man. The truck driver had asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Lois Goodman to delay the lawsuit until the criminal case against him reached a conclusion. Goodman issued a ruling late Tuesday which indicated that the lawsuit would not interfere with the defendant's criminal case. The accident took place last year when the truck driver slammed into the plaintiff's car on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Jury Sides With Raiders in Age Discrimination Lawsuit

An age discrimination lawsuit against the Oakland Raiders football team has come to an end as a jury in California sided with the team. The lawsuit was filed by two former head scouts who were fired in 2012. The lawsuit alleged that the 68-year-old and 59-year-old were fired in an act of age discrimination after each had worked for the company for about 30 years. The lawsuit sought $3 million in lost wages and future earnings, and unspecified punitive and emotional distress damages.

Williamson County Settles with Two Men Over Interviews

Williams= on County has settled with two of the three men who sued county commissioners, saying the officials asked illegal questions about religious and political beliefs during job interviews for a vacant constable seat. The federal lawsuit was filed in June 2013 by the Texas Civil Rights Project. The county agreed to settle Jan. 27 for a total of $100,000 with Fred Churchill and Robert Goodrich, according to county documents. The lawsuit is still pending because Robert Lloyd who originally filed the lawsuit that Churchill and Goodrich later joined was not part of the settlement.

GM is Defending 104 Death and Injury Lawsuits

GM is defending 104 death and injury lawsuits brought by those who blame accidents on defects in the companycars. GM is fighting most of the suits, including 156 bundled together in Manhattan federal court, saying it isn't responsible for older cars made by its bankrupt predecessor. The U.S. bailed GM out of bankruptcy in 20.

Family of Slain California Bank Heist Hostage Blames Police

The family of a bank robbery hostage who was shot and killed in Stockton blamed police for the death Wednesday and demanded the city take financial responsibility. Missy Holt-Singh was shot July 16 during a high-speed chase and shootout between police and three robbers. Two other hostages were wounded. A lawyer for Holt-Singh's family, said police officers acted irresponsibly by engaging in a running gun battle with the robbers while chasing the getaway car through Stockton's streets. The claim filed with the city alleges that robbers used Holt-Singh as a human shield. Bentley said officers fired more than 600 shots and 10 struck the 41-year-old Holt-Singh.

Takata Whistle Blower Willing to Testify on Deadly Airbag Flaws

A former Takata Corp. engineer has told a U.S. congressional committee hewilling to testify that he warned of deadly consequences before the company chose a design for airbags that were later recalled due to lethal flaws. Mark Lillie, who left the auto-parts maker in 1999, said his departure was tied to Takatadisregard of his warnings against using the chemical compound ammonium nitrate to inflate its airbags.
