Hospital Faces Lawsuit Over Man's Death | | Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Pennsylvania is facing a lawsuit alleging that it altered medical records to conceal its part in the death of a 44-year-old man. The lawsuit was filed by the man's family and alleges that hospital staff engaged in an "unprecedented pattern of neglect, fraud, concealment and other misconduct consistent with evil motives and reckless indifference to the rights" of the victim. The father of three died on August 9, 2013 after he was rushed to the hospital with complications due to a shoulder injury. According to the family's lawsuit, hospital staff failed to provide proper care for the victim, which led to his death, and would not provide accurate medical records to the family after his death. The lawsuit names Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as well as the victim's doctor, the Director of Health Information Management and a chief compliance and privacy officer.
